My ambitious (ok, semi-ambitious) project of pairing a dozen wines (y'know, a case!) with various Action TV Shows from the 1980s has come to a close. It took nearly a year, which it shouldn’t have. But it did. In the interest of nothing much more than posterity, I am going to recap and link to all the pairings below:
- Magnum, P.I. —Paired with meritage (or “Bordeaux-style”) blends
- Miami Vice —Paired with rose wine
- CHiPs —Paired with California’s Grape™, zinfandel
- Airwolf —Paired with the Italian powerhouse, Barolo
- Knight Rider —Paired with German riesling
- Remington Steele —Paired with sparkling wine
- Simon & Simon —Paired with the red/white blends of the Cote-Rotie
- The Dukes of Hazzard —Paired with those rebels of the wine world, the Super Tuscans
- MacGyver —Paired with wine’s food-pairing Swiss Army Knife, barbera
- Moonlighting —Paired with the duality of pinot noir
- The Greatest American Hero —Paired with America’s favorite wine, chardonnay
- The A-Team —Paired with the powerful, misunderstood Tawny Porto
In addition, for fun, below I’ve also embedded all the theme song / intro videos from the series. Enjoy!
